Burntisland Community Development Trust and the Burntisland Community Council have been working towards their second Community Action Plan. STAR helped Burntisland with their first CAP in 2016, and much has been achieved since then. Over the last 6 months, STAR has worked closely with the BCDT Development Officers to help them to carry out a community survey, stakeholder engagement, and a fabulous community event in March. There were 522 responses to the survey, from a representative sample of 1,000 households – thanks to the efforts of the volunteer team. The stakeholder discussions reached deep into the community, gaining views and input from all age ranges and interests, with over 120 discussions taking place. Ultimately the Community Futures event attracted input from over 400 residents, voting for their priority projects and actions and signing up to get involved.
The team are now putting together the final CAP document, and are looking forward to launching it over the summer months. This has been a great example of our preferred way of working – training and mentoring local organisations in Community Acton Planning – passing on our experience and knowledge.
